Practice Schedule:

I’ve finally posted the summer practice schedule for June 3rd through July 26th (last practice before the AAU JO in Greensboro, NC). The general schedule will be 4 days a week from 7-9:00pm at Farmington High School. Events will be on a rotating schedule. There are a few exceptions so please refer to the online schedule (https://www.magsigpallettthrowing.club/schedule-1). Please remember to use the RSVP feature so that I know when you are planning to attend. Thanks.

·         Thurs (discus/shot)

·         Fri (hammer/jav)

Track Meets:

I’ve started to add track meets to the schedule as well. There are still a few unknowns but in general the schedule is starting to firm up. Under “Files” you can find a Word document titled “MPTC Flyer – 2024 Season” that includes a list of known meets (black lettering). I’ve highlighted those that we will likely attend. To make things easier, I’ve listed the meets I will likely attend below (some of them, I’ll be throwing at as well)!

** Please note that very few of these meets will include javelin and hammer. If you are a non-turbo javelin thrower (age 13+), make every effort to attend one or more of those meets that contend it before the AAU Region 12 meet.

Sat July 27th – Saturday August 3rd – AAU National Junior Olympics (Greensboro, NC) – Youth

With college conference championship meets next weekend (May 10th-12th), there wasn’t a lot of action from our MPTC alums this weekend. I did want to give a shout out to Jake. He had a rough few weeks with hammer mid-season. A couple of no-mark meets and in Lexington, you could see that he was struggling to get in synch with the ball. Last weekend at a home meet, he had a solid series and this weekend down in Indiana he improved his PR to 59.74m. Hopefully his resurgence will carry over into the Big Ten outdoor meet next weekend.

Bob Hayes Invitational – 3May’24:

Jake Steslicki    – 192’ 8” (58.74m) – 7th place hammer – PR

Quick check in on the high and middle school throwers that I worked with this winter. Big shout out to Zoe for breaking her middle school’s shot-put record in her first meet! She’s only in 7th grade so she has almost 2 years to really push that record out. On the high school level, Teegan and Robbie both went over 160ft in discus (both just under 50ft in shot). Joe had a big double PR (adding 10ft to discus and 3ft to shot). Ryan added 3.5 ft to his PR in shot, and Donovan added 3ft to his “recognized” PR in discus. Lily is inching towards 100 feet in discus and Nate broke 36ft in shot. As the weather improves and they move toward Conference Championships and Regionals, I expect to see them all continue to push out the marks!
