Based on feedback to the note below, I have posted practices on the club website through the end of May. The main focus will be shot put and discus (with a little bit of hammer for Jennifer & I). As we get into May, I will look to add javelin as we prepare for the summer track season. I will endeavor to hold to this schedule and will let you know if I have to cancel due to traveling to/from Val's track meets or inclement weather. Please make sure to use the RSVP feature on the club website to let me know you are coming. If I don't see any RSVP's, I will cancel. Thanks.

Tuesday (5:00-7:00) - discus/hammer followed by shot at ~6:10

Thursday (5:00-7:00) - discus/hammer followed by shot at ~6:10

Sunday (3:00-5:00) - shot follwed by discus/hammer at ~4:10

Hi All -

I hope the transition to the school track season is going well. I'm back from my vacation (trying to get used to 50deg colder temps, brrr) and getting ready to head to Chicago for my last indoor meet of the season this weekend.

I'm looking to start setting up practices to begin as early as next week pending on the level of interest. In the past I have run club practices on Sundays along with a few mid week sessions (after the Farmington High School team is done). Obviously, everyone is practicing with their school teams during the week and many will be going to meets on Saturdays which doesn't leave much free time (and energy).

In order to help me set up the schedule, I would appreciate your responding with a list of potential days that you would be available and want to attend along with which events. I'm presuming the main focus will be shot and discus but if there is enough interest, we can potentially include hammer and/or javelin. Thanks.

Good luck this spring! I'll be watching your results on Athletic.net.

I kicked off the indoor season for the club back in November (Michigan Senior Olympics) and I closed it out (along with Jennifer Heston) this weekend at the USATF Masters Indoor National Championships in Chicago, IL.

Jennifer had a great final indoor meet of the season going 3 for 3 on PRs, exceeding the Masters All-American T&F Standards in weight and super weight (just missed the shot standard by 5cm), and bringing home 2 medals (silver and bronze)! I had a consistent but frustrating day in shot. All 6 throws within 1 foot of each other but couldn’t get past the 40ft “Mendoza line”. I was very happy with my series in the weight throw. Each throw was further than the previous one. Unfortunately, the last 2 throws were lost to fouls (small foot foul and then right sector on the last). I finally broke the 14m barrier in round 4 for a new PR which was good for a 4th place finish. I exceeded the Masters All-American T&F Standards in both shot and weight.

Jennifer – 36’ 11” (11.26m) – 3rd place 50-54 weight - PR

            – 26’ 1” (7.95m) – 2nd place 50-54 super weight - PR

             – 26’ 9” (8.15m) – 6th place 50-54 shot put - PR

Toby     – 46’ 2” (14.07m) – 4th place 55-59 weight - PR

             – 39’ 9.75” (12.13m) – 7th place 55-59 shot
