Results from the Divine Child Summer Series Meet – 21Jun’23

In lieu of practice, a few of us decided to head over to Divine Child for their first Summer Series Meet of the season. It was a very nice night for throwing and once started, Sharee did a great job of running shot and discus. Highlights of the night were PR’s for Maggie (flirting with 100ft in discus) and Joe (adding another 1.5ft to his shot PR). Erin had her first competition in years and now has some marks to compare her progress against. Teegan had some big throws in warmups and about wrecked his discs as Divine Child’s discus sector is tight with sidewalks, rocks, poles and a parking lot all coming into play for errant throws (and even for longer throws in sector). Not a great venue for long discus throws. I had a good night with discus, hitting a seasonal best that wasn’t in danger of any obstacles. We can’t all bomb them like Teegan!

Upcoming Meet Registration Info/Deadlines (update 17Jul'23)

There is one meet this weekend up in Flint. This meet includes javelin for ages 13-18! There is also a mid-week meet at Divine Child that several of us will be attending in lieu of practice on Wednesday. Please also note the deadline for signing up for the AAU National Junior Olympics is Tuesday (18Jul'23). So far it appears that all but William are signed up.

Club Results from the weekend of 17Jun’23

Our club throwers were a bit spread out this weekend. Maggie made the trip to Aurora, IL to compete at the mid-west’s throwers “field of dreams” (also known as Hammerman Field). She 3 turned her way to a nice series in her first meet with the hammer. At the EITI Invitational, PR’s fell left and right. Teegan made his first trips over 50ft (shot) and 160ft (discus), Zoe broke 31ft (shot) and Torran broke 100ft (discus). Newest member, Joe, had the biggest jumps on the day. He added 5ft to his PR in shot (37’ 6”) and a massive 22ft to his PR in discus (126’ 7”)! The younger throwers weren’t the only ones in action. I spent the morning throwing for the Ford Team at the Corporate Cup Relays. My teammate (Jim Wu) and I took 1st place in shot put for team Ford with the #5 all-time relay score.
