My Wayne State throwers were off this weekend, so my wife and I took advantage of the down time to fly out to California to watch Val compete in several meets in the LA area. As an added bonus, I got to watch Clayre throw discus at one of them as well.
While hammer didn’t go to plan (some long warmup throws, but none during the comp), Val had a great weekend with the discus. She broke her PR twice while showing great consistency with 9 of 12 throws measuring over 46m (150’ 10”). Highlight of the weekend was Val going [ 46.65m 46.87m 47.18m 46.18m 48.69m 47.14m ] to take 2nd place at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University.
