With the AAU Regional meet behind us, it’s time to start thinking about the remainder of the season as we ramp up to the AAU National Junior Olympics. Please note the registration deadlines and don’t wait until the last minute. If you are having any issues, please let me know and I'll try to assist.
For those that qualified for the AAU National Junior Olympics, please let me know your plans for attending as soon as you can. I would like to finalize my travel plans for being down there to support our throwers. Thanks.

*** We generally don’t attend this meet as a team; however, it is an opportunity for additional competition throws if you are interested. ***
Sat July 6th – Grand Rapids Invitational (Houseman Field, Grand Rapids) – Youth (shot, disc & turbo javelin)
Registration closes on July 5th!
Cost: $20

Wed July 10th – Divine Child Summer Series (Dearborn) – All Ages (shot and discus only)
---> sign up on site in the infield (arrive at 5:00, throwing starts at 5:30)
Cost: $5

Wed July 10th – Shamrock Throws Series (Catholic Central HS) – Ages 12+ (shot and discus only)
---> sign up on site at 3:30 (throwing starts at 4:00)

Note: It sounds like the Motor City Classic meet tentatively scheduled for Sat July 13th will not be happening this year due to ongoing facility work. As a result, we’re planning to attend the Courageous Games on Sunday.
Sun July 14th – Courageous Games (Wayne State University) – Youth (shot & disc – no javelin & turbo javelin) --> please note only 3 attempts (we’ll try to get more on site)

Wed July 17th – Shamrock Throws Series (Catholic Central HS) – Ages 12+ (shot and discus only)
---> sign up on site at 3:30 (throwing starts at 4:00)
Cost: $10
Sat July 20th – Genesee Swift Invitational (Carman-Ainsworth MS, Flint) – Youth (shot, discus & javelin/turbo javelin) --> 4 attempts / no finals
Registration closes on July 19th at noon.

If you are willing to travel and are interested in a great throws-only meet with some good competition, there will be a Hammerman USA Throws Meet in Aurora, IL on Saturday July 20th. Contact me for details.
*** As much as I would like to attend the Shamrock Throws meet on the 24th to get some competition hammer throws myself, we will likely attend the Divine Child Meet as they’ll have discus and shot as a final prep for the AAU JO. ***

For those new to the AAU JO, this is an 8-day meet but your athlete will not need to be there the whole time (especially if they aren’t taking part in the multi-events in addition to open throws). Please see the schedule at this link to find out when they would throw. Let me know if you have any questions/concerns. This will be my 15th AAU JO & 6th trip to Greensboro for a big meet (2 AAU JOs, 1 USATF JO and 2 New Balance HS Nationals).
